Historic Agreement Signed in the Northwest Territories

A historic agreement that will lead to $375 million for Indigenous leadership in caring for lands, waters, and wildlife has been signed in the Northwest Territories. This groundbreaking, collaborative agreement between 22 Indigenous Governments, the Government of Canada, the Government of the NWT, and private donors is a new model for the world – one that will not only support Indigenous stewardship, but also build a strong sustainable economy for the North. The initiative will help protect lands & waters, get more Guardians on the ground, and diversify the region's economy, providing hundreds of jobs per year over the next decade.
