Serge Ashini Goupil is a member of the Innu Nation from Matimekush Lac John (Schefferville). He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from l’Université de Sherbrooke and a graduate diploma in project management from l’UQAC. Ashini Goupil has worked for more than 20 years on environmental issues, governance and land-use planning, as well as First Nations leadership.

Ashini Goupil developed a work-study co-op program in environmental sciences for a First Nations clientele called the Mitshishu project. He also collaborates with organizations that wish to implement best practices in their business relations with First Nations.

He is the co-founder of the Mushuau-nipi Corporation, which organizes Northern Aboriginal Seminars and Mushuau-nipi Youth Initiatives in northern Quebec along the George River. These seminars facilitate the discovery of the traditional and contemporary Innu way of life in the presence of elders, but mainly focus on discussing issues fundamental to both Quebec society and First Nations.
